A few months ago when I was really busy with our new baby and had not accessed Facebook for over a month, I logged in to my account and became really frustrated because it seemed like I was no longer receiving status updates from all my friends. Fan pages had also disappeared from my status updates. Facebook changed a default setting that affected which updates appeared in the update stream.
You can easily fix this issue by changing the default settings:
- Log in to your Facebook account.
- Scroll to the bottom of your status page to “Edit Options.”
- Select the options show “all your friends and pages.”
- Save changes. Select the Most recent option at the top of the page to sort the updates in order from most recent.
Another recent change affects the way our information like "friends" names are shared. Basically if you do not change the default setting, people can search for your name on an Internet search and see your name and a list of your Facebook "friends" names and information. Here are the steps to follow to keep your friends' names private.
- Log in to your Facebook account.
- Go to “Account” options and select “Privacy Settings.”
- Go to “Apps and Websites.”
- Select the “Public Search” option. Click the “Disable.” option.
